The last Kometa-Xstra signing for the 2020 season also knows well the world of family cycling. His father, Fabrizio Verza, was a professional rider between 1982 and 1985 in teams such as Gis Gelati Ecoflam or Bianchi Piaggio, but was forced to leave high competition in a hurry after suffering an accident against a truck in training and not finish recovering satisfactorily. Verza defines himself as a team rider and would like to be able to be very useful to his new formation. “I haven’t been a very successful cyclist in lower categories. Only as a teenager did I stand out more in terms of victories and I managed to be summoned by Italy to compete in two editions of the world championships, in Ponferrada 2014 and in Richmond 2015. The truth is that it was difficult for me to adapt to the change of category and only this year in Zalf have I managed to return to a certain level”, he explains. His favourite race is Milan-Sanremo and he hopes to be able to take part in it on some occasion.
