He began cycling six years ago, in the Peña of his hometown, Fuente Vaqueros, and competing in the first year of cadets, with the Club Ciclista de Santa Fe. From there, in his first junior year, he went to the Club Ciclista Belizón y Rodríguez, of Cabra, where he spent a season until his arrival to the Alberto Contador Foundation. José Antonio is the first case of round trip to the Contador Foundation, since after a first stay of two years, in his second year under23 signed by Infisport, to stop the following season at Gomur before signing again by the team under23 of Polartec-Kometa. “Although last year I also had other offers, I wanted to go back to the Contador Foundation because I had good memories of the team and I already knew the people. I preferred to go back to another unknown team”, explains José Antonio. 2018 was a key season in his development as a rider and in his aspiration is “to get past professionals doing the best possible this year, getting the best track record I can to keep me up”. Partial victories in the Vuelta a Zamora or the final general of the Challenge Vuelta a Sevilla, obtained with his excellent speed peak, catapulted his jump to the continental team for 2019. Her first season was not as good as she would have liked due to several health problems, although she ended up improving her performance in the second part of the season. Joselillo, as he is known to his team-mates, is a tough opponent to beat in small groups. “I’m not a pure sprinter, but I pass the mountain well and in tough races I can play the sprint trump card”, he explains. After completing high school, Garcia has focused on the bicycle, although he has studied Quiromassage and has continued studying Italian and English.
