Biography

The Italian rider, one of the new faces of the continental Kometa Cycling Team for 2020, is backed by his great victory in the Vuelta a León, where he prevailed in a queen stage that ended in such a demanding mountain as Puerto de Ancares. Fancellu’s notoriety skyrocketed months earlier, however, with his brilliant bronze medal won in the junior event of the Innsbruck World Championship, where the Belgian Remco Evenepoel shone with his own light. Curiously, as in his case, in Fancellu’s life cycling was not the first great sport of his life. It was football. In his case, for eight years he was enrolled in the Oratorio Solbiate structure, a club where he played as an attacker. When he was twelve years old, he decided to quit and his parents ordered him to continue practicing some physical activity, the moment in which he started cycling.
